The Monumental Cemetery of Staglieno in Genoa, Italy is famous for the many weird, wonderful, and lifelike monumental statuary created by prominent artists of the 1800s, including Leonardo Bistoff, Augusto Rivalta, Edoardo Alfieri, and Guilio Monteverde. One of the largest cemeteries in Europe, the original plan was completed in 1850 and extended in the 19th century to include Protestant and Jewish sectors.
